The Australian Tennis Awards and the Newcombe medal are the pinnacle of recognition by the sport to celebrate major achievements in Australian tennis. The Newcombe Medal celebrates and recognises the performances, achievements and contributions made by members of the tennis family each year.
The award is awarded annually to Australia’s most outstanding elite tennis player and ambassador for the sport. Nominees are selected by an esteemed panel of Australian champions and highly respected people from the tennis community.
Of course the award is named in honour of the achievements of Australian tennis legend John Newcombe.

The recipient of this award is delivering a quality, comprehensive, holistic coaching program that focuses on the tactical, technical, physical and psychological development of high performance players. In addition the coach will currently be coaching junior players.

This award recognises the person who has personified the essence of leadership, passion, sportsmanship, goodwill and dedication to the sport while making a major contribution to the stature of tennis.

This award recognises the coaches who work within their local communities. The coach provides quality coaching programs, is actively involved in growing the game and provides competition opportunities for players to progress their game.
- Coaching Excellence – ANZ Tennis Hot Shots
ANZ Tennis Hot Shots coaches offer a program that includes a developmental pathway, a learning through play philosophy and use of modified equipment. This award acknowledges the important work these coaches do to grow the game and introduce more kids to the game.
- Junior Athlete Of The Year
The award is given to the player 18 years or under who is ranked No.1 in their age group (ATP/WTA/ITF/AR), has demonstrated a record of playing for Australia in team events and has displayed a positive attitude at all times.
- Most Outstanding Athlete With A Disability
This award is awarded to a player who has performed consistently over the year, competed at the highest level within their disability event type and has displayed a positive attitude.
- Volunteer Achievement Award
The volunteer often goes unrewarded for the many hours of work they contribute to tennis. This award honours the volunteers within tennis who fosters relationships within and between their club and the community, and recognises the contribution they make to the sport, specifically in the area of delivering more active players.
- Tennis Senior Of The Year
This award perhaps needs no explanation. The criteria is that players of over 35 increase playing opportunities and social interaction for senior players.
